Goldtex Apartments Reviews, 2025–2026

Sixteen one-star Google reviews, reproduced verbatim. Not this site's words — the tenants'. What they describe is the same building documented across this record.

How this page was compiled All reviews below are 1-star reviews of Goldtex Apartments publicly posted on Google Maps, collected from screenshots and reproduced verbatim. Reviewer names are reduced to initials. Owner/management replies are removed. Reviews that were cut off mid-text ("…More" not expanded) are omitted rather than guessed at. Relative dates ("a month ago") are as displayed at collection time; the set was compiled in August 2026. Each review is the statement of its author, not of this site.

This site documents one tenant's experience at Goldtex Apartments in Philadelphia — the assault, the chemical exposure, the retaliation, and the record behind all of it. A fair question is whether that experience was an outlier.

The reviews below answer it in other tenants' words. Sixteen households, writing independently on a public platform across 2025–2026, describe the same building: heat and air conditioning out for weeks or months at a time, security deposits withheld after move-out, a rooftop pool and amenities closed for the better part of a year, fire alarms that ring unanswered, an expired rental license, and a management office that does not respond to calls or emails.

What the Reviews Repeat

Counting only what reviewers state explicitly, out of the sixteen reviews below:

12 of 16 describe broken or absent heating and air conditioning — including outages during a January snowstorm and 90–100° summer days.
12 of 16 describe closed or unusable amenities — chiefly the rooftop pool and hot tub, closed for months with no timeline.
10 of 16 describe management that does not answer calls, emails, or complaints.
5 of 16 describe security deposits withheld after move-out.
4 of 16 state the building lacked an active Philadelphia rental license.
3 of 16 describe fire-alarm or fire-safety failures, including a real fire with no working alarm.

These counts are conservative — they tally only explicit statements in the review text reproduced below, which anyone can re-count.

6 months since moving out, and still haven't received security deposit. Will adjust review accordingly once deposit is received in full.

On top of that, amenities are not unkept, things break all the time, apartments are landlord special - there's much better options in Philly.

Avoid renting at Goldtex if you value transparency and fair utility billing. I lived there for four years, and while the utilities were always high, things took a turn for the worse in my final months. Management began adding a $60 flat utility fee on top of already excessive charges. For reference, I lived in a studio and was regularly billed around $168 for water, $198 for electric, plus the $60 fee—an outrageous total for a small unit.

When I asked for a breakdown or proof of usage, I was told they couldn't provide it because "the utility system temporarily went offline, and the actual usage data was not captured until March." In other words, I was expected to pay hundreds of dollars a month with zero transparency.

High utility costs might be tolerable if the building was well maintained, but that wasn't the case. HVAC issues would go unresolved for weeks at a time, often during peak heating or cooling seasons, and residents were never compensated—even when the system wasn't working. Only one elevator typically functioned at a time, and it was extremely slow.

Moving out of Goldtex was a huge relief. I no longer dread opening my utility bill each month. However, it's now been over a month since I moved out, and I still haven't received my $1,000 security deposit—even though the property manager did a walkthrough and confirmed there was no damage.

Bottom line: Save yourself the stress and money. Look elsewhere.

Awful, don't move here. The new management company Greystar is terrible and advertise amenities even though they've been closed for months. They take forever for maintenance and still charge full price even though they've shut down most amenities. The building looks nice from the outside but there's always a problem and the management company makes the problem even worse.

Worst place to live of all time!

(Attached photo with overlaid text summarizing building violation data:)

The Property: The Post Goldtex Apartments — a 10-story, 163-unit high-rise built in 1925, assessed at $30M, owned by Post Goldtex LP. Key findings for 2025–2026:

1. Heating crisis (Winter 2026): 8 maintenance complaints in 12 days (Jan 26 – Feb 9). L&I issued two "Unfit Structure" citations on Feb 11 — the most severe designation — plus heating and mechanical equipment violations. All remain OPEN.

2. Fire safety deficiencies ongoing since August 2025. 7 fire violations issued, only 1 resolved (took 7 months). A fire watch personnel violation in March 2026 means fire systems were impaired.

3. 16 of 17 violations are unresolved. 5 of 6 open 311 complaints are overdue, some by 70-125+ days.

4. 14 crime incidents nearby — mostly vehicle thefts (7), plus 3 assaults inside the building, 1 arson, 2 robberies.

5. No construction permits since 2019 — no capital improvements in 6+ years.

I have never felt inclined to write a review of a business, whether positive or negative, until now after such an egregious experience living at Goldtex. I have lived here for nearly two years.

The heating and air-conditioning system is frequently out of service, sometimes for up to a week at a time. Most recently, while outdoor temperatures were nearly 90 degrees, I was told I would be provided with a portable air-conditioning unit during an outage, but that never happened. In the winter time, they did provide a space heater that provided little heat. Being left without functioning heat or air conditioning for days at a time is simply unacceptable.

The rooftop pool and hot tub, which were a major selling point of this building, have been out of service for months with no clear timeline for when they will be operational again. Management has made little effort to keep residents updated on when these amenities will be back operational.

The concierge staff has also been a recurring issue. While there are a couple of good concierge staff, the overwhelming majority have made it feel as though both myself and my guests are an inconvenience to them. There have been multiple instances where staff were distracted by listening to music with headphones in, unaware that someone was at the front door trying to get in; they have refused to let my guests up; and at one point I have seen a staff member with their head down sleeping. This all wouldn't be so bad if the call box at the front door actually worked, but it's been out of service for two years with seemingly no plan to ever fix it.

If you are considering moving here, do yourself a favor and don't. For the price you would pay to live here, you can find an equally nice apartment to live in that doesn't come with the frequent headache of the endless issues here.

DO NOT MOVE HERE! No matter what kind of deal they offer you when you tour. The new mgmt is horrible and the Heating/AC has been broken/unusable for the entire year we have lived here. The amenities are not usable as the rooftop renovations have been ongoing for almost a year with no progress. The building has roaches and other bugs and despite the units looking nice when you first tour, avoid moving to this building at all costs!

goldtex review

Do not move here. Do not even consider it. While the building on paper seems beautiful and nice, it is an absolute nightmare to live here. Things have been going downhill since last year. I lost heat on literally the coldest biggest snowstorm of the year, and now (fully summer, june) have had no central AC for weeks. They say they're working on a fix, but it's literally been a year of constantly losing heat and AC. They finally put a portable window unit in after nearly 3 weeks straight of broken AC, to the point where my units temperature measured 87 degrees and I started having heat related health issues (the lack of consistent central air has been a longstanding issue so I am unsure of why they didn't have the portable units already ordered and ready to be installed by the time summer rolled around). The portable ac unit forces the window open with only a clear cellophane-like plastic barrier and duct tape, so now I have to worry that my cats are going to fall out the window. There have yet to be new updates on the AC progress or a timeline.

The building's emergency features are also cause for concern. For the last year at least, the emergency/fire alarm has been going off randomly. It will go off for maybe 5-10 minutes before stopping. Management NEVER acknowledges the alarm and has not fixed it to my knowledge. Last month we had a fire in the building. The alarm went off for about 5-10 minutes before stopping, and I thought it was a false alarm like every other time. I was just about to leave the building when the maintenance person verbally informed me there was actually a fire and a real emergency, and we needed to evacuate (no alarm going off). By the time I got downstairs firefighters had entered the building. The front desk person was incredibly unprofessional and getting in an argument with the firefighters. Just this past week the fire alarm went off again at 3am waking up the entire building. It went off for about 20-30 minutes before firefighters confirmed there was no fire, and the alarm was just broken. This is INCREDIBLY dangerous for all tenants and STILL management has given no acknowledgment or indication that they are trying to fix this.

If something breaks in your apartment, just accept that it may never get fixed. When I moved in, the kitchen backsplash was broken. While the building was under different (and arguably better) management then, they had promised they'd fix it within the first couple weeks. It has been 2 years and it's still broken and probably won't be fixed for the next tenant. I sent in a simple request to have a light bulb changed and a light strip fixed a month and a half ago and they're still broken. I sent in a follow up email after a month of zero correspondence and they said they would get to it that week. They didn't.

While i don't personally use the amenities in the building, I know others may be tempted by the gym/roof/pool etc. If you as a tenant want to use these amenities, they will either A: be broken, or B: be being used by a large group of people partying that don't even live in the building. They WILL be drunk in the elevator.

The issues in this building are no individuals fault, but rather a mix of bad communication, bad management, a wealth of building problems, and a disconnected (and frankly money hungry) property group. While you're at it, just cross off every Greystar managed apt from your list. Don't even risk this.

Shout out to the two concierge guys (you know who you are) you are the only good things about the building right now.

Return the security deposit! They only offered $200 out of $1,000 without any explanation and communication. After six months of no heater and constantly broken elevators, finally moved out. But they've been keeping our security deposit forever. Don't receive calls and don't reply to our email. Goldtex, if you see this comment before reply to this comment REPLY to my email!!!

Also have never reviewed any kind of business but the last 8 months of the Goldtex definitely warrant it mainly because I want to warn people to absolutely not waste the money on par for a "luxury" building on a place with none of the advertised amenities, no working AC to speak of, no roof deck and some of the most unresponsive management I have ever encountered.

The heat and AC have literally not worked consistently since November. Even on hot nights in the winter we were showing them that the HVAC didn't work and essentially being told that we were being crazy for asking for AC in the winter. It continued into the summer with them providing portable units that eventually ran out as they didn't have enough for everyone but basically consisted of a duct taped unit against the window that blows hot air around the living room. yes, we did go through nearly hundred degree days without any AC and they are still going through it now (Have moved out since). We also didn't have any working heat during the big snowstorm in January with sub 10 degree temperatures. There have been 0 concessions provided in the rent for this whatsoever, even though we're paying for a luxury building.

The roof deck hasn't been accessible to use with the pool or hot tub since last fall, which is also part of the advertised amenities. Prior to moving out, they sent an email saying that they are "working with the city" on a plan to get the roof deck up to safety code so there is basically thoughts and concepts of a plan to restore it but no real plan as of yet. The gym has equipment being exchanged so semi functional when I last checked and my friend noticed a man there who doesn't reside in the building early one morning and reported it to security.

There are bugs in the building, many people have noticed them and despite calling an exterminator they continued until I moved. The building also lacks any active rental license in the city of Philadelphia, a fact they neglected to share until another resident made us aware of it by posting signage that they deemed "not allowed" even though you can go on the Philadelphia rental license website and look it up to see it is expired.

A fire happened in the building partly due to the front desk not responding in an appropriate or timely manner to the initial alarm going off. After the fire, many units were water damaged and management allowed them in and out of my/other units with minimal notice.

I asked to move out quite quickly in May because I saw this was going downhill and asked that they would waive the two month notice by about 20 days duration because of all the extenuating circumstances above (literally no working AC in summer) and was told that they couldn't accommodate that request. They had me pay the full month of June rent, only to completely gut the place after I moved out on the 10th and do repair work the whole time, taking advantage of the fact that I had moved out early but still making me pay for the entire duration of the month. I am still waiting to be refunded for the cost of that month, which Nicole said I was owed when I spoke to her in the office. I only found out that the apartment had been in that state when I went back to return the keys on the last day to find there was no apartment to clean. No one had called/emailed/texted or made me aware of the situation, but thats pretty much what you expect with the Goldtex! :)

I have been reaching out repeatedly via email to no response regarding refunding me the last month, which is absolutely a normal occurrence for this building. They actually said they prefer to meet "by appointment only" and to make an appointment you have to call a number that they never pick up (convenient right?). I am, however, looking forward to how quickly they will respond to this review, which will likely be the fastest response I received while working with this management.

Take the money you would spend here and use it on a nicer building with reliable amenities and responsive management and the safety of working air and heat.

My daughter's had no heat most of the winter and now no air conditioning since summer started. No pool open this year and no date to ever open. Avoid this place Update….. Still not fixed..6/29. Going floor to floor fixing this issue does nothing for those without ac or heat that they pay extra for every month. Update..7/19 still no ac repaired!

Had a horrible experience at Goldtex, DO NOT live here. Moved out almost two months ago with no security deposit refunded. Have tried to get in contact with the leasing office with no success, a common theme that happened when I lived there (they do not answer emails/phone calls). Does not have an active rental license since April 2026. Only upside is the front desk staff who were very kind and patient.

I have never lived in a place that provides as little transparency as possible like Goldtex. I have been disappointed in management and each time I go into the office to file complaints, the only thing they have done is write it on a post-it note saying they will tell someone else. In December, I was without a working thermostat for 7 days. I have personally been stuck in the elevator and when the firefighters got me out, they said they come to this building all the time. We have been without our rooftop pool and hot tub for almost 4 months, which was really the selling point of me living in this building.

I have received emails only pertaining to one elevator being out of service, but no transparency about the thermostat or the rooftop. I have been told for a month now that we should expect an email about getting rent back for these issues, but still have yet to receive one.

The worst building I have ever lived in. No heat or A/C for 6 months. The whole third and fourth floor is still without heat and A/C. I finally got out, but now they are silent about my security deposit. They won't respond to any calls or emails. Save yourself the headache and don't live here. All amenities have been shut down for a year, and no one has done any work on them, don't expect to have the listed amenities actually open for use during your time here. The management is also inefficient and unprofessional. They don't answer calls or emails, maintenance doesn't know what they're doing and never fix anything properly, and no one is ever at the leasing office. Truly the worst living experience I have ever had, you can find a much better place that doesn't have all the issues.

Do not rent here! The building is gorgeous, the tenants are fun. Greystar however, is the WORST management company I have ever lived in, from rude corporate staff, to billing issues where THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU. The building currently doesn't even have an active rental license, pool has been closed for months. Currently it is 100 degrees and we do not have air conditioning. Whatever you do, DO NOT MOVE HERE! The building claims to be fixing things, they are not, the issues have been ongoing for MONTHS and they WILL LIE, to get you to sign a lease (or in my case re-sign a lease). Nicole the community manager is dismissive and not up to par, and Sara in the corporate office is a joke who likes to push off issues even when legal teams are involved. The photo attached from the elevator is an accurate description of the building and example of the residential unrest due to the poor conditions and management. As well as the continued unproductive emails full of excuses for issues that are not being fixed or compensated for (since September when Greystar took over). The only ac they provided in the meantime is the window unit attached by duck tape, and the ones I bought to keep my apartment as cool as possible. The building is owned by Matthew and Michael Pestronk (brothers) and I would avoid living in any building owned by them if looking to live in Philly. And the responses from Nicole on this board and to myself is as fake as the improvements, basic things such as AC in this building… and phone number she's giving out (THEY DO NOT ANSWER!). I am counting down the days until I move out of this dump at the end of the month.

(Attached photo — sign text:)

Sweltering in the heat? Struggling to stay cool? Goldtex / Graystar began repairing the HVAC system on December 22, 2025 and over the last 6+ months have been unable (or unwilling) to cool the apartments. You might be sweating, but the management office is nice and cool with fully functional AC! Jumping in the pool is a great way to cool off (but has also been closed for over 6 months)

Don't move here. it's 90° today and the air conditioner doesn't work. It's been having problems since I moved in. I'm talking about on the coldest days. We had no heat. now on the hottest days we don't have any air conditioner. Also, the pool isn't up nor the Jacuzzi they can never keep a steady staff and this place doesn't even have their proper license and hasn't in God knows how long. I can't even receive an email back with direct questions.

Same complaints as the others. Complete lack of transparency. I was there for two years. I had my wheels stolen off my car in the outdoor lot. The HVAC went out for 4 weeks during the hottest months and for 4 weeks during the coldest months, BOTH years. One of those years I was still charged a $100 monthly HVAC fee even when it wasn't functioning at all. Lana was great but the management got worse and worse since she left where now you'd be lucky if they respond to your emails. The pool on the roof was closed for most of the last year I was there, which is the main selling point for most people in this building, but no rent concession was taken off. Looks great on the outside but it's not worth the price.
